How to Return File Names with Lines Matching a Pattern on Linux

Assume that you want to get all the file names of the Python files (.py) that match a pattern, for example, the word “pandas“. In other words, we would like to get a list of the Python files that contain the word “pandas”. We can achieve that by running the grep command with the -l flag. For example:

grep -l pandas *.py
