How to Add Days to a Python datetime Object

In this tutorial, we will show you an efficient way to add and subtract days to a datetime object in Python. Let’s define an arbitrary day.

import datetime
my_date = datetime.date(2018,1,1)
my_date

datetime.date(2018, 1, 1)

Let’s say that we want to add 60 days.

my_second_date = my_date + datetime.timedelta(days=60)
my_second_date

datetime.date(2018, 3, 2)

Similarly, we can subtract days. We will subtract 60 days.

my_second_date - datetime.timedelta(days=60)

datetime.date(2018, 1, 1)
